Foreign Policy: "Subcontinental Divide: Why India Will Disappoint Both the United States and China"


India is emerging as a political system that is truly independent and “great” (in the international relations sense of the word - culturally it has always been one of the species’ centers) for the first time in centuries.  As a result it is unlikely to make concessions at too frequent a rate or too high a cost to either the United States or the People’s Republic - expect the balance of power game in central, western, southern, and southeastern Asia to grow ever more complicated over the next generation at least.
